2 - What's New?

The complete list of improvements in moving from version 1.0 to 2.0 is large. This article will cover the programming issues; however, programming doesn't exist in a vacuum, and unless the customers or users see something positive, moving forward isn't always worth the trouble. The good news is that customers will see many advantages to upgrading:

  • Smaller executables, since the graphical code has been moved to the ebm equivalent of a dynamic linked library.
  • Smoother integration with the MMC, including backup of the OS, and program execution from the MMC.
  • Faster performance, as newer optimized routines are available for use in code

With these new features, you can be sure users will upgrade to OS2, and so we need to get software ready. Additionally, Franklin is making the switch to OS2 right now, which means the life for new OS1 development is very limited. With the benefits customers will see in OS2, the transition is expected to be brief.
