8 - ConclusionMaking the compile cycle simple is one of the first things I like to do in a new OS environment. That loop of reviewing your code, editing, compiling, and debugging is where you will spend most of your development time, so making that area streamlined will definitely add the most 'bang for the buck', and improve your mood. While the Franklin/Cygwin environment is unusual for Windows aficionados, it's an excellent way to learn the nuts and bolts of the typical compile environment, as well as a little Linux. And with some thought put into planning your setup, it needn't add a lot of overhead to your work.Previous Section |
